Private Pool Villa Near Komodo National Park With Flores Sea View

Stepping off the plane in Labuan Bajo, the gateway to Komodo National Park, I knew I wanted something special. Forget standard hotel rooms; a private pool villa with a Flores Sea view was the dream. And after some research, I found a couple of incredible options that really stood out, offering quite different experiences.

TA’AKTANA, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Labuan Bajo

My first stop was TA’AKTANA, which just opened in 2024. It’s a big deal here, being the first Marriott International property in the entire region. The resort is stunning, but for true indulgence, the overwater villas are where it’s at. There are seven of them, each floating above the Flores Sea on its own private deck. What’s amazing is you can literally see the coral garden beneath your feet – it’s like living in an aquarium. These villas are huge, 195 square metres, with a unique circular floor plan. The roofs are curved, tapering like seashells, and the sea views are completely uninterrupted. It’s pure architectural beauty. Staying here also means you get a dedicated 24-hour butler service, which made everything effortless. Beyond the villas, the resort has six treatment rooms designed to feel like natural caves, plus hot and cold plunge pools, and a 24-hour gym. While a Studio Room starts at US$370, an Overwater Villa is a significant step up, starting at US$1,501 per night. It’s an investment, but for that level of luxury and unique design, it feels justified.

Sudamala Resort Labuan Bajo

For a different kind of private pool villa experience, Sudamala Resort Labuan Bajo offers a compelling alternative. Here, I looked at their Manggarai One Bedroom Pool Villa. It’s 112 square metres, offering a sense of seclusion that’s really appealing. The private pool is a fantastic touch, and the overall vibe is one of eco-friendly comfort. While not overwater, the design feels very grounded in the local environment. Sudamala also has 79 square metre Beachfront Suites, which don’t have private pools but do come with a private terrace, a refreshing rain shower, and their own private beachfront gazebo. It’s a slightly different price point and a more traditional, yet still very luxurious, resort experience.
